About The Role

We are seeking an experienced hands-on AWS DevOps Engineer to join the LCST Programme team at Leidos. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable cloud infrastructure aligned with industry best practices. Working within a high-performing Agile team, you will utilize a tailored SAFe Agile SecDevOps Scrum process to deliver cloud-native solutions that meet the needs of our stakeholders. Your expertise will drive automation, continuous integration and delivery, and infrastructure management, ensuring operational excellence across multiple environments.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical expertise, hands-on experience, and relevant certifications. A strong background in cloud infrastructure, automation, scripting, and security is essential. Certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional or equivalent are highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), containerization, and CI/CD pipelines, with experience supporting enterprise-level cloud solutions. Excellent problem-solving skills, collaborative mindset, and the ability to work effectively within Agile teams are critical for success in this role.

  • Manage source code repositories using GIT, including pull requests, branching strategies such as Trunk-based development and GitFlow, and collaborative version control workflows.
  • Design, implement, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure, leveraging services like EC2, ECR, ECS, EKS, VPC, RDS, Load Balancers, Lambda, IAM, Route 53, and others to ensure secure and scalable environments.
  • Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible to automate provisioning, configuration, and maintenance of cloud resources.
  • Create and optimize CI/CD pipelines utilizing Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar tools, automating build, test, and deployment processes across multiple environments.
  • Develop automation scripts using Bash, Python, PowerShell, or other scripting languages to streamline operational workflows and eliminate manual tasks.
  • Implement containerization strategies using Docker and orchestrate container deployment using Kubernetes or AWS EKS, ensuring consistency and scalability.
  • Manage secrets and sensitive information securely using tools like Vault and IAM policies, adhering to security best practices.
  • Ensure adherence to AWS security standards, including encryption, patch management, monitoring, and compliance requirements.
  • Design and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to safeguard data and ensure business continuity.
  • Set up and maintain monitoring and logging solutions such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, or ELK Stack to enhance system observability and facilitate proactive incident management.
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, translating business requirements into technical solutions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Design cloud-native solutions that are scalable, resilient, and cost-effective, meeting performance and availability targets.
  • Identify root causes of operational issues and implement effective mitigation strategies through troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Configure routing, traffic management, and load balancing using tools like NGINX and AWS-native solutions to optimize traffic flow.
  • Support structured release and change management processes, including deployment governance, rollback strategies, and version control.
  • Maintain awareness of Java application environments and deployment considerations to support platform-wide integration and consistency.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve delivery pipelines, infrastructure, and development practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Design and manage SNS topics for event-driven architectures, integrating notifications with Lambda functions or external systems to create scalable workflows.
  • Utilize Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket to support Agile delivery, documentation, collaboration, and CI/CD pipeline management.
  • Work with Active Directory and ADFS for identity and access management, including group policy management, Single Sign-On (SSO), and cloud authentication integrations.

Application Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with programming or scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Experience working with Red Hat Linux and Windows Server environments.
  • Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or other providers.
  • Experience with containerized solutions and orchestration tools.
  • Supporting application troubleshooting and incident resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and configuration management tools like Ansible or Puppet.
  • Experience setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Bamboo, or similar tools.
