About The Role
We are seeking an experienced hands-on AWS DevOps Engineer to join the LCST Programme team at Leidos. In this role, you will be an integral part of a high-performing Agile team responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure and scalable cloud infrastructure. You will work within a tailored SAFe Agile SecDevOps Scrum process, applying best practices in DevOps and cloud-native architecture. Your expertise will drive automation, streamline deployment processes, and enhance system reliability across multiple environments.
This position involves active participation in Agile ceremonies, risk mitigation activities, and collaborative solution design. You will work across systems engineering, software development, testing, and security domains, demonstrating cross-functional flexibility. Your hands-on experience with automated testing, deployment pipelines, and infrastructure monitoring will be crucial in ensuring operational excellence and continuous delivery.
Qualifications
- Proven experience managing source code repositories using GIT, including pull requests, branching strategies (Trunk-based, GitFlow), and collaborative workflows.
- Expertise in designing and managing AWS cloud infrastructure, with familiarity in services such as EC2, ECR, ECS, EKS, VPC, RDS, Load Balancers, Lambda, IAM, Route 53, and related components.
- Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and Ansible for provisioning and configuration management.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar automation tools.
- Ability to write and maintain scripts in Bash, Python, PowerShell, or equivalent scripting languages to automate operational tasks.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration practices, alongside configuration management tools like Ansible.
- Understanding of secrets management and access control mechanisms, including Vault and IAM policies, to ensure security compliance.
- Familiarity with AWS security best practices, including encryption, patch management, monitoring, and compliance standards.
- Experience in implementing backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
- Proficiency in monitoring and logging solutions such as CloudWatch, to maintain system reliability and facilitate proactive incident response.
- Strong communication skills and experience working within Agile teams, translating business needs into technical solutions, and participating in sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups.
- Ability to design resilient, scalable, and cost-effective cloud-native solutions aligned with performance and availability objectives.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to identify root causes and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Understanding of routing, traffic management, and load balancing, including configuration of NGINX and AWS-native tools.
- Experience with structured release and change management processes, including deployment governance, rollback strategies, and version control.
- Knowledge of Java application environments and deployment considerations is advantageous for supporting platform-wide integrations.
- A proactive approach with a continuous improvement mindset, regularly seeking opportunities to optimize pipelines, infrastructure, and development practices.
- Experience designing and managing SNS topics for event-driven architectures, integrating notifications with Lambda or external systems.
- Proficiency with Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket to support Agile workflows and documentation.
- Working knowledge of Active Directory and ADFS for identity and access management, including SSO and cloud integration.

- Hands-on experience in programming languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar.
- Experience working with Red Hat Linux OS and Windows administration.
- Practical knowledge of cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or others.
- Experience supporting containerized solutions and deploying applications within container environments.
- Proficiency in supporting application troubleshooting and resolving operational issues.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
- Knowledge of configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or similar.
- Hands-on experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Bamboo, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated automation skills across various platforms and tools.
Desired Skills
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional or an equivalent certification.
- Proficiency in Terraform, AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK), or CloudFormation.
- Experience with Ansible for configuration management and automation.
- Strong scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages.
- ITIL Foundation Certification or extensive experience working within ITIL-based environments.
Interview Requirements
This role involves a two-stage interview process:
- The first stage is a face-to-face video competency-based interview focusing on your experience, skills, and application of relevant technologies.
- The second stage is an in-person interview at our Bristol office, including a technical assessment aligned with the role’s technical requirements.
