AWS DevOps Engineer

Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum (pro rata, depending on contract duration)

Contract Length: 6 Months

Location: Sheffield (Hybrid, 3 days per week onsite)

Overview

We're supporting a top-tier global banking organisation as they continue to expand their Cloud Engineering capability as part of a major cloud transformation programme.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer to join a high-performing team responsible for building secure, scalable and automated cloud solutions that support critical business services across a complex enterprise environment.

You'll be working alongside experienced cloud engineers, architects and DevOps specialists who are passionate about AWS and modern engineering practices, helping development teams accelerate their adoption of cloud technologies in a secure and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build and support cloud infrastructure across AWS environments.
  • Develop automation solutions using Python and other scripting technologies.
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
  • Create and enhance tooling that enables teams to deploy secure and efficient cloud solutions.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Git and Ansible.
  • Contribute to security controls and best practices throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
  • Produce high-quality documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate with engineering, security and platform teams to drive cloud adoption and operational excellence.
  • Act as a trusted cloud specialist, providing guidance on AWS best practices and standards.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services in enterprise environments.
  • Proven experience developing automation solutions using Python.
  • Solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform.
  • Experience working with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git and Ansible.
  • Knowledge of Linux and/or Windows operating systems.
  • Good understanding of DevOps principles and Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Experience delivering and supporting production infrastructure within large-scale environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Experience

  • AWS certifications.
  • Experience with CloudFormation.
  • Linux or Windows certifications.
  • Knowledge of non-functional testing practices.
  • Experience working within regulated environments.
  • Understanding of security, governance and risk management within cloud platforms.
  • Financial Services experience, although this is not essential.
