About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled AWS Java Full Stack Developer to join a dynamic project within a globally recognized organization. This is a 6-month initial contract with the possibility of extensions, offering an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge cloud-native applications. The role is based on a hybrid working model, requiring a maximum of two days per week onsite in London, with the flexibility to work from Edinburgh. The successful candidate will be responsible for modernizing existing on-premise Java and Angular applications into scalable, cloud-native microservices on AWS, ensuring seamless deployment, maintenance, and performance optimization.

  • Proficiency in Java 11 or higher, preferably Java 17, with extensive experience in Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with Angular for front-end development.
  • Deep understanding of AWS cloud services such as EKS/ECS, EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, and CloudWatch.
  • Solid knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, Git, Jenkins, or GitLab, and DevOps practices.
  • Experience in application migration, refactoring, deployment automation, and working within the banking or financial services domain is highly desirable.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively within an Agile team environment.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of technical and collaborative tasks, including:

  • Refactoring and modernizing legacy on-premise Java applications and Angular front-end interfaces into cloud-native microservices hosted on AWS.
  • Designing, deploying, and managing applications on AWS services such as EKS/ECS, EC2, Lambda, S3, and RDS to ensure high availability and scalability.
  • Building and maintaining robust CI/CD pipelines utilizing tools like Git, Jenkins or GitLab, Docker, and Kubernetes to streamline deployment processes.
  • Supporting Agile development practices through active participation in sprint planning, code reviews, and daily stand-ups.
  • Providing troubleshooting support, resolving production issues, and ensuring optimal application performance.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams including DevOps, QA, and Product Owners to deliver high-quality software solutions.
