About The Role

The AWS Platform Engineer role at CGI is a pivotal position within the healthcare team, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and secure cloud data platforms that support critical healthcare analytics, research, and operational insights across the UK. This hybrid position requires a candidate with a passion for cloud technology and automation, capable of working collaboratively with cross-functional teams including data engineers, DevOps specialists, and healthcare clients. Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate strong technical expertise in AWS platform engineering, infrastructure automation, and data platform design. Experience working within highly regulated environments such as healthcare or NHS is highly desirable, ensuring familiarity with compliance and security standards. Candidates should possess excellent collaboration skills, adaptability, and a drive to deliver solutions that have tangible real-world impacts. Essential qualifications include hands-on experience with AWS services such as VPC, IAM, S3, EC2, and Lambda, proficiency in Terraform for infrastructure automation, and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. Knowledge of data security, governance frameworks, and experience working with data platforms like Databricks will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

The core responsibilities of the AWS Platform Engineer include:

  • Design and deploy secure, scalable AWS-based data platforms that support analytics and operational intelligence initiatives.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using Terraform and CI/CD pipelines to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Collaborate closely with data engineers, DevOps teams, and clients to deliver impactful and reliable solutions.
  • Implement best practices in cloud security, governance, and compliance, especially within regulated healthcare environments.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging AWS capabilities and incorporate them to enhance platform scalability, resilience, and security.

The role also involves taking ownership of key solutions, providing technical guidance, and ensuring that all platforms meet the highest standards of security and compliance, ultimately supporting the organization’s strategic health and research initiatives.
