Senior AWS Platform Engineer
Contract Duration: 12 Months
Location: London (Hybrid)
We are seeking a Senior AWS Platform Engineer to join our team for a 12-month contract. This role involves designing, building, and maintaining a cloud-based occupancy data platform hosted within AWS. The platform integrates data from multiple sources to generate occupancy insights and support data-driven decision making. This is an ideal opportunity for a hands-on AWS specialist who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and building cloud-native solutions.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Design, build, and maintain AWS-based platform services and infrastructure.
- Develop and support data ingestion and integration services.
- Build, enhance, and maintain RESTful APIs and event-driven services.
- Create and manage Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform.
- Develop and support CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and associated tooling.
- Implement secure deployment, monitoring, and operational practices.
- Support the integration of WiFi, IoT, and future occupancy data sources.
- Troubleshoot and resolve platform, integration, and deployment issues.
- Collaborate with architects and technical teams to implement target architecture designs.
- Ensure solutions meet security, performance, scalability, and reliability requirements.
- Support onboarding of new technologies, integrations, and data sources.
- Contribute to technical design discussions, engineering reviews, and best practice adoption.
- Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation.
- Support operational stability and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in sprint planning, estimation, and Agile delivery activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Active SC Clearance.
- Significant experience designing, building, and supporting AWS cloud platforms within production environments.
- Strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
- Experience developing and supporting CI/CD pipelines, ideally with GitHub Actions.
- Strong Python development experience for integrations, automation, and backend services.
- Experience building and supporting APIs and backend integration services.
- Experience implementing event-driven and serverless architectures.
- Strong knowledge of AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway, EventBridge, and Step Functions.
- Experience integrating multiple systems and data sources within enterprise environments.
- Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and observability solutions.
- Strong understanding of DevOps principles and engineering best practices.
- Experience implementing cloud security controls and secure deployment practices.
- Knowledge of cloud networking and secure connectivity principles.
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex platform and integration challenges.
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline.

Desirable Skills:
- Experience with IoT, smart buildings, or occupancy analytics platforms.
- AWS IoT Core and wider AWS IoT services experience.
- Experience with edge integrations and connected device ecosystems.
- Knowledge of streaming data platforms and real-time processing architectures.
- Experience with Apache Kafka or AWS Kinesis.
- Familiarity with Cisco Meraki platforms and WiFi analytics solutions.
- Experience working within government, public sector, or regulated environments.
- Experience supporting workplace technology, estates, or building management programmes.
