About the Role

We are seeking a talented and forward-thinking AWS Cloud Engineer to join our engineering team. You will be instrumental in designing, building, and operating cloud-native applications and internal platforms on AWS, leveraging modern serverless and event-driven architectures. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who thrives on automation, clean code, and delivering production-grade software at pace.

You will work closely with product, platform, and DevOps colleagues to deliver scalable backend services and infrastructure, owning your work end-to-end from design through to deployment and monitoring.

Note: This role is based in Nottingham and you will need to travel into the office 3 days a week.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Engineering & AWS

  • Design, build, and maintain serverless applications using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, SQS, and SNS.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested TypeScript and/or Node.js code across microservices and event-driven workloads.
  • Own the full development lifecycle of features: requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and incident response.
  • Build and maintain RESTful and event-driven APIs, ensuring performance, reliability, and security best practices.
  • Manage and optimise DynamoDB data models and S3-based data pipelines to support scalable and cost-effective storage patterns.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
