The role

As AWS Solution Architect, you'll work closely with customers to define and architect the functional blocks of AWS to support their cloud adoption journey and beyond. This is a key, customer-facing role eliciting requirements for cloud adoption and cloud-native architectures, understanding existing ecosystems, and defining the patterns and services needed for a successful, well-architected migration to AWS.

Core duties

  • Take the technical lead role in migration enablement work
  • Work with the wider community of development teams to deliver migration services using common code, standards and artefact formats driving collaboration, particularly around service dependencies
  • Define and document AWS architecture for migration (baseline, target, roadmap, patterns, standards, reference architectures, etc.), supporting a wide range of use cases
  • Run architectural reviews of the platform at appropriate intervals to make best use of vendor technologies
  • Proactively define, optimise, automate, publish and communicate deployment patterns for migration
  • Support engineering teams in optimising the migration path
  • Act as an escalation point for engineering teams on troubleshooting and incident management
  • Drive the adoption of automation across the platform, using common methods with other platforms
  • Document deployed systems, scripts and working practices to enable re-use and support for users globally

About you

You'll have experience in many of the following:

  • Cloud migration experience
  • Experience in cloud platform architecture with AWS, defining cloud reference architectures and patterns in a large, multi-account AWS estate
  • Strong AWS experience, with a track record of solving complex business issues regarded as an AWS subject matter expert
  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD tools
  • Experience with AWS security services and network services
  • Experience working within an Agile framework
  • Good understanding of AWS security concepts and cyber security goals
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to motivate teams to adopt new tools and set new standards

  • Industry certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional), or AWS Speciality certifications (Security, Advanced Networking)
  • A scaled agile framework certification, such as SAFe
  • Experience managing stakeholders, including users and senior management
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers
