Our client in the Information Technology and Services industry is looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) / AWS DevOps Engineer with strong expertise in AWS Cloud, DevOps practices, automation, and operational support. The role will primarily focus on maintaining, supporting, and enhancing critical production systems while driving reliability, scalability, and operational excellence across cloud environments.

The ideal candidate will possess deep AWS and DevOps experience, along with working knowledge of.NET/C# development. Strong C# development capabilities are preferred but negotiable for candidates with exceptional AWS and DevOps expertise and moderate development experience. This position sits at the intersection of Operations, Engineering, and Cloud Infrastructure, requiring a proactive approach to automating processes, improving system reliability, troubleshooting production issues, and contributing to application enhancements when required.

What you will do

Site Reliability and Operational Support

  • Monitor, maintain, and support business-critical applications and cloud infrastructure.
  • Ensure high system availability, performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Participate in incident management, root cause analysis, and problem resolution.
  • Implement proactive monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions.
  • Reduce operational overhead through automation and self-healing mechanisms.
  • Support production releases and deployment activities.

AWS Cloud Engineering

  • Design, deploy, and manage AWS-based infrastructure and services.
  • Implement cloud best practices for security, availability, scalability, and cost optimization.
  • Manage and support AWS services, including EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, VPC, Route 53, SNS/SQS, and Secrets Manager.
  • Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure and application-related issues.

DevOps and Automation

  • Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines.
  • Automate deployment, provisioning, and operational workflows.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
  • Develop scripts and tools to improve operational efficiency.
  • Partner with development teams to streamline software delivery processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across DevOps and release management practices.

Software Development and Engineering

  • Contribute to application enhancements and operational tooling using C# and .NET technologies.
  • Develop utilities, automation scripts, and support tools.
  • Assist development teams with production support and performance improvements.
  • Participate in code reviews and engineering best practices.
  • Troubleshoot application issues and provide fixes where required.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrate 5+ years of recent experience in AWS, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or closely related environments.
  • Bring strong hands-on experience with AWS Cloud and DevOps practices.
  • Possess strong experience supporting production systems, cloud infrastructure, and operational environments.
  • Demonstrate experience with automation, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and deployment workflows.
  • Apply strong troubleshooting, incident management, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Show experience with monitoring, alerting, observability, and improving system reliability.
  • Demonstrate working experience with.NET and C# development; strong C# expertise is preferred but negotiable.
  • Apply knowledge of AWS services including EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, VPC, Route 53, SNS/SQS, and Secrets Manager.
  • Contribute effectively across Operations, Engineering, and Cloud Infrastructure teams.
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to continuous improvement, automation, and operational excellence.
  • Meet the eligibility requirements for BPSS clearance.
  • Accept PAYE employment through an Umbrella company.
