Azure & Applications Architect – Business Separation
Location: Hybrid London (1 day a week onsite)
Duration: 6 months rolling contract
Rate: 550GBP/day Outside IR35
Role Overview
The Azure & Applications Architect will lead the separation of Azure-hosted services and enterprise applications from the parent-company environment into the new standalone technology estate.
The current scope includes approximately 3–4 Azure environments across UK West and UK South, covering development, DevOps, Logic Apps and virtual machines.
A key aspect of the role will be application discovery and dependency assessment, as enterprise applications cannot simply be migrated and will require rebuild, reconfiguration or replacement within the new estate.

Key Responsibilities
- Assess the existing Azure estate and define the standalone target architecture.
- Review approximately 3–4 Azure subscriptions/environments.
- Assess:
- Azure VMs
- Logic Apps
- Dev environments
- DevOps
- Networking
- Integration services
- Identify application dependencies on the parent organisation.
- Lead application discovery and dependency mapping.
- Determine whether applications should be migrated, rebuilt, reconfigured or replaced.
- Define Azure subscription and resource structure for the standalone organisation.
- Review Entra ID/application authentication dependencies.
- Assess service accounts, certificates, secrets, APIs and integrations.
- Work with application owners and SaaS providers.
- Review Azure VPN and connectivity dependencies.
- Develop application migration/rebuild sequencing.
- Produce architecture and migration documentation.
- Support testing and cutover.
- Provide technical support during migration and hypercare.

- Entra ID/application authentication.
- Experience establishing standalone cloud estates.
- Business separation/divestiture/carve-out experience desirable.
