About The Role

Hays is currently seeking a proficient Azure Cloud Migration Engineer to join our client’s dynamic team on a contract basis. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the migration of a critical business application from on-premise infrastructure to Microsoft Azure. This role involves collaborating closely with the Lead Technical Architect to design, build, test, and support a secure and resilient Azure environment. The position offers an excellent opportunity for professionals with hands-on experience in cloud migration, infrastructure deployment, and security management to contribute to a strategic project that enhances the company’s cloud capabilities. The role is predominantly remote, with occasional meetings in London, and offers a competitive rate outside IR35.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Azure cloud services and migration projects. Essential qualifications include proven experience with Azure infrastructure components such as compute, storage, and landing zones, along with expertise in Azure Networking and Hybrid Connectivity. Familiarity with Entra ID / Identity & Access Management, Azure Security, and disaster recovery planning is required. Candidates should have experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Bicep, or equivalent, and a solid understanding of Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines. Prior exposure to monitoring, logging, and operational support in regulated or mission-critical environments is highly desirable. Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect or Azure Administrator are advantageous.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
