Azure Cloud Engineer
Location: Buckinghamshire
Type: Hybrid
Duration: 6 month contract
Rate: £550-£600 a day - Outside IR35
We require an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer to support the development, optimisation and governance of our client's cloud platform. The role will be working closely with the Cloud Architect and you’ll combine hands-on technical delivery with architectural governance, resilience and assurance across a Microsoft Azure estate.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design, governance and optimisation of Azure cloud services, networking, storage and virtualisation.
- Manage and maintain Azure Firewall, Azure SQL and cloud security controls.
- Support CI/CD, containerisation and modern engineering practices.
- Contribute to Infrastructure as Code using Terraform / OpenTofu.
- Support the adoption of Azure AI Foundry and Azure OpenAI.
- Contribute to cloud resilience, disaster recovery, backup and business continuity.
- Support monitoring, performance, capacity and cost optimisation.
- Provide technical assurance and challenge to third-party suppliers and solution designs.
- Support compliance with CIS, NIST and ISO frameworks.
- Work closely with technology teams, business stakeholders and suppliers to manage risks, dependencies and delivery.

- Strong experience of Azure Cloud-Native Services gained in a regulated environment.
- Good understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking and security.
- Experience with Azure Firewall and network security controls.
- Experience supporting Azure SQL services.
- Experience with Terraform / OpenTofu and automation.
- Familiarity with CI/CD and container platforms.
- Understanding of cloud governance, resilience and disaster recovery.
- Experience working in a supplier led delivery environment.
- Strong stakeholder and supplier-management skills.
- Comfortable combining hands-on engineering with governance and architectural support.
- Experience gained in insurance and/or financial services - desirable.
- Azure AI Foundry / Azure OpenAI experience would be advantageous.
