Job Title: Azure Cloud Engineer
Location: Leeds UK (Hybrid)
Employment type: Contract (Inside IR35)
Job Summary:
In today's financial services market, IT services must be reliable, efficient, and aligned with business goals. These services need excellent platforms and infrastructure across all domains including Contact Center, Digital, Decisioning, Case Management, and Infrastructure. The role is also responsible for leading technical engineering teams who specialise in building and running technology infrastructure (largely delivered by Fujitsu, Maintel, CloudClevr) and cloud infrastructure (Microsoft Azure).
The Role
Cloud Engineers are responsible for implementing and managing Azure-based solutions, automating infrastructure deployments, & integrating DevOps pipelines. This includes designing resilient architectures, optimising performance, and ensuring security across cloud environments. These roles deliver high-quality Cloud Tech Platforms and services for our colleagues to ensure they can deliver great outcomes for customers and clients.

The main end results required of the role
Cloud Infrastructure Management
- Deploy and configure Azure services (Compute, Storage, Networking, Identity).
- Design & implement high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
- Design, deploy and run appropriate cloud networking solutions.
- Where required provide out of hours or on call support.

DevOps & Automation
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or similar tools.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using appropriate tooling, currently Terraform. Promote the use of Terraform through IT Development teams, enabling and coaching them to deliver.
- Automate operational tasks and environment provisioning.
Security & Compliance:
- Build platforms with a security first mentality. Apply Azure security best practices (RBAC, encryption, monitoring).
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (ISO 27001, GDPR).
Monitoring & Optimisation:
- Configure monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Dynatrace).
- Optimise resource utilisation and manage cost efficiency.
Collaboration
- Work with development and Cyber Security teams to enable cloud-native application deployments.
- Provide technical guidance and documentation for stakeholders.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Include qualifications (essential / desirable), technical expertise, and specific business knowledge required to perform the role
Skills
- Professional Certifications for Azure covering AZ-900, AZ-104, AZ-500, AZ-305 (advanced), AZ-400. Or demonstrable experience of working and managing in these areas. Support can be given on this if the level of Azure Cloud Platform skills is demonstrable.
- Financial Services Industry / Debt Purchasing market desirable.
Knowledge
Knowledge of:
- Azure IaaS/PaaS
- Terraform
- CI/CD (Azure DevOps / GitHub Actions)
- Containerisation (AKS)
- Security & Identity (AZ-500 level)
- Networking (Azure networking patterns, firewalls, routing)
- Monitoring & Observability (App Insights, Log Analytics, Dynatrace integration)
- Expertise in minimizing the negative impact of incidents and managing workarounds and known errors.
Experience
- Working in a highly performing IT Engineering team in an equivalent or larger organization.
- Proven track record in delivering Cloud engineering solutions.
