About The Role
Hays is currently seeking a skilled Azure Engineer for one of our esteemed clients. This role is pivotal in supporting the migration of a critical business application from on-premise infrastructure to the Microsoft Azure cloud platform. The successful candidate will work closely with the Lead Technical Architect to design, build, test, and support the Azure environment, ensuring it is secure, resilient, and ready for operational deployment. This is a remote position with occasional meetings in London, offering a dynamic environment where technical expertise and strategic planning are essential. The contract duration is initially six months or longer, with competitive compensation based on experience and skills.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Azure cloud services, with relevant experience in cloud migration projects. Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect or Azure Administrator are highly desirable. Proven expertise in Azure infrastructure components, networking, security, and identity management is essential. Candidates should have experience working in regulated or mission-critical environments, demonstrating the ability to handle complex, high-stakes projects. Additionally, familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Bicep, and CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, will be advantageous. Strong communication skills and the ability to produce comprehensive technical documentation are also required.

Responsibilities
- Support discovery phases, technical assessments, and detailed migration planning to ensure seamless transition to Azure.
- Design, build, and configure Azure infrastructure, including compute, storage, and networking components, adhering to best practices and security standards.
- Implement identity management solutions, monitoring, logging, and operational services to ensure a secure and manageable environment.
- Execute migration activities, including cutover and rollback procedures, minimizing downtime and disruption.
- Conduct resilience, backup, and disaster recovery testing to validate system robustness and compliance requirements.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure and migration issues promptly, providing effective solutions to maintain project timelines.
- Produce detailed technical documentation and operational handover materials to facilitate ongoing support and maintenance.
- Collaborate closely with architects, Microsoft teams, and third-party vendors to ensure smooth delivery and integration of solutions.
