About The Role
Hays is currently seeking a skilled Azure Engineer to join one of our esteemed clients on a contractual basis. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be directly involved in a critical cloud migration project, transitioning a vital business application from on-premise infrastructure to Microsoft Azure. The successful candidate will work closely with the Lead Technical Architect to design, build, test, and support a secure and resilient Azure environment. This position requires a hands-on approach, technical expertise, and a proactive mindset to ensure the smooth execution of migration activities and ongoing operational support.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess relevant experience and certifications in cloud technologies, particularly Azure. Key qualifications include proven expertise in Azure cloud migration, infrastructure deployment, and security. Strong knowledge of Azure networking, hybrid connectivity, identity management, and disaster recovery is essential. Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates, along with familiarity with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines, is highly desirable. Candidates should also have a background working in regulated or mission-critical environments, demonstrating the ability to operate under strict compliance standards.

Responsibilities
- Support discovery, technical assessment, and detailed migration planning to ensure a seamless transition from on-premise systems to Azure.
- Design, build, and configure Azure infrastructure components, including compute, storage, and networking, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Implement identity management solutions, monitoring tools, and operational services to facilitate ongoing management and security.
- Lead migration activities, including cutover planning, execution, and rollback procedures, to minimize downtime and impact.
- Conduct resilience testing, backup verification, and disaster recovery drills to validate system robustness and data integrity.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure and migration issues promptly, providing effective solutions to maintain project timelines and quality standards.
- Create comprehensive technical documentation, operational procedures, and handover materials for ongoing support teams.
- Collaborate with architects, Microsoft teams, and third-party vendors throughout all phases of the project to ensure alignment and successful delivery.
