About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Azure Data Engineer to join a dynamic, innovative team within a global technology business based in London. This fully remote role offers the flexibility to work from anywhere in the UK, with the option to access multiple office locations for collaborative purposes. As a senior member of the data engineering team, you will work closely with the Head of Data to design, develop, and optimize large-scale Azure Data platforms. Your expertise will be instrumental in building robust data models and supporting the Delta Lake infrastructure that underpins the company's advanced AI platforms. This position provides an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge data solutions, leveraging your technical skills to influence the company's data strategy and drive innovation.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in data engineering with specific expertise in Azure cloud services. Candidates should demonstrate extensive experience with Azure Databricks and Medallion Architecture, along with proficiency in PySpark, Python, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog. A solid understanding of Kimball data modeling techniques, such as star schema and snowflake, is essential. Strong SQL skills are required to manipulate and analyze large datasets effectively. The candidate should also exhibit a flexible, problem-solving approach with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions. Relevant certifications in Azure Data Engineering or related fields are advantageous. A proven track record of working in fast-paced environments and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable Azure Data platforms, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Build and optimize data models using Delta Lake, supporting data-driven decision-making processes.
  • Implement Medallion Architecture to facilitate efficient data ingestion, processing, and consumption.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using PySpark and Python to automate data workflows.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with organizational standards and policies.
  • Participate in code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing to promote best practices within the team.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in cloud data engineering to continuously improve platform capabilities.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolve data platform issues promptly to minimize downtime.
