About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Azure Data Engineer to join our client's dynamic team. This fully remote position offers the flexibility to work from anywhere in the UK, with the option to access multiple office locations for collaborative purposes. As a vital member of the data engineering team, you will work closely with the Head of Data to design, develop, and maintain large-scale Azure Data platforms that support advanced AI and analytics initiatives. Your expertise will be instrumental in building robust data models and working on the Delta Lake architecture that underpins the company's Databricks AI platforms.

This role requires a proactive and innovative professional who can translate complex data requirements into scalable solutions, ensuring data integrity, security, and accessibility. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong technical leadership and a commitment to delivering high-quality results that drive business insights and strategic decision-making.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical expertise and practical experience, including:

  • Extensive experience as a Senior Azure Data Engineer with a proven track record of designing and implementing data solutions on Azure cloud platform.
  • Expertise in Azure Databricks, Medallion Architecture, and Delta Lake technology.
  • Proficiency in PySpark, Python, and SQL for data processing, transformation, and querying.
  • Strong understanding of Unity Catalog for data governance and security.
  • Knowledge of Kimball data modeling techniques such as star schema and snowflake schema.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a flexible approach to project execution and a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale Azure data platforms aligned with business needs and best practices.
  • Implementing and optimizing data models using Medallion Architecture for efficient data flow and processing.
  • Building and managing Delta Lake environments to support AI and machine learning initiatives.
  • Collaborating with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
  • Ensuring data security, compliance, and governance through Unity Catalog and other Azure security features.
  • Automating data pipelines and workflows to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices to continuously improve data architecture and processes.
