About The Role
The purpose of this role is to own and manage the Azure platform on which IMServ's Astral products are built, tested, and operated. This role is critical in enabling the delivery of highly scalable, secure, multi-tenant SaaS software to clients worldwide. As one of two DevOps Engineers, you will share responsibility for the entire path to production, including managing Azure environments, CI/CD pipelines, releases, security, and cost management. You will work within our Scrum teams, collaborating closely with Software Engineers, Testers, and the Technical Architect. Your primary focus will be to ensure the platform's stability, security, and efficiency throughout the product lifecycle, supporting the seamless deployment and operation of our services.
Qualifications
Essential qualifications include over five years of experience managing production Azure environments, with a strong understanding of App Services, Azure SQL, storage, and networking fundamentals. Candidates should have a proven track record in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps (YAML), including artifact management, controlled build configurations, and security gates. Proficiency in infrastructure as code (Bicep, ARM, or Terraform) and scripting in PowerShell and Azure CLI is required. A solid understanding of secure-by-default platform design principles such as Key Vault, managed identities, RBAC, and least privilege is essential. Experience in monitoring, backup, disaster recovery, and incident response for live services is also necessary. Familiarity with Agile SCRUM methodologies and SQL Server management for environment data is highly desirable. Certifications such as AZ-104 or AZ-400 are advantageous, along with experience supporting Azure services like Azure Service Bus, Azure Functions, or Azure Data Factory. Knowledge of C#/.NET and enterprise security requirements will be beneficial for this role.

Responsibilities
- Environment Management: Provision, configure, and maintain the Astral environment estate across development, testing, UAT/load, and production environments. Ensure environments are consistent, reproducible, and well-documented using infrastructure as code. Manage environment refreshes and test data in compliance with data protection policies.
- CI/CD Pipelines: Develop, maintain, and enhance Azure DevOps build, test, and release pipelines. Incorporate artifact management, controlled build configurations, and automated quality and security gates. Streamline deployment processes by consolidating per-client pipelines into a unified multi-tenant deployment pathway.
- Release Management: Plan and execute deployments across the environment chain, including rehearsed rollback procedures for each release. Support product go-lives and maintain a transparent release calendar to ensure smooth delivery.
- Security and Access: Manage secrets and certificates via Azure Key Vault, oversee role-based access control, and enforce least privilege policies across the platform. Collaborate with IT security teams on audit remediation and security release planning.
- Monitoring, Reliability, and Recovery: Own observability tools such as Application Insights and Log Analytics. Implement alerting, backups, and disaster recovery procedures, including periodic testing. Lead incident response efforts and conduct blameless root-cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
- Cost Management: Monitor and optimize Azure spend across different environments and clients. Right-size resources based on usage patterns and report on key cost drivers to ensure efficient budget management.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain up-to-date runbooks, environment documentation, and configuration records. Document work promptly to eliminate single points of failure and facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
- Community Membership: Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies, the wider Product Engineering community, and team events. Support colleagues by quickly resolving environment and pipeline issues to maintain continuous delivery momentum.
