Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Azure DevOps Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in designing, provisioning, and managing multi-region Microsoft Azure environments.
The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining highly available, resilient cloud platforms, with a particular focus on disaster recovery, cross-region synchronisation, AKS, and Azure API Management (APIM). You will be expected to work hands-on across the Azure estate, from designing solutions through to provisioning and configuring infrastructure from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage multi-region Azure cloud environments to provide high availability, resilience, and disaster recovery capabilities.
- Develop and maintain solutions that ensure appropriate synchronisation and consistency between Azure regions, enabling services to fail over effectively when a primary region becomes unavailable.
- Design and implement disaster recovery and business continuity strategies across Azure regions.
- Provision, configure, and manage Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters from the ground up, including networking, security, scaling, monitoring, and operational configuration.
- Provision and configure Azure API Management (APIM) environments from the ground up, including policies, networking, security, integrations, and regional deployments.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using technologies such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate infrastructure and application deployments across multiple Azure regions.
- Implement Azure networking, identity, security, monitoring, and governance capabilities required to support highly available environments.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, deployment, and operational processes wherever possible.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, deployment, networking, and availability issues across distributed Azure environments.
- Work closely with development, architecture, security, and operations teams to ensure Azure platforms meet availability, resilience, performance, and security requirements.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of cloud engineering standards, automation, deployment processes, and disaster recovery capabilities.
- Participate in disaster recovery testing and validate that workloads can be successfully recovered or failed over to an alternative Azure region.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
