The Opportunity

Amber Labs is seeking an experienced Azure DevOps Engineer to support a programme focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI). This opportunity is ideal for a technically capable and dependable engineer with experience in Azure DevOps, cloud engineering and modern software delivery practices, ideally gained within an AI-focused programme or environment.

You will contribute to the development, deployment and ongoing improvement of engineering environments and delivery pipelines, working collaboratively with technical teams to support reliable, secure and scalable solutions.

We are looking for someone who combines strong technical capability with a resilient, reliable and personable approach, able to work effectively with stakeholders and colleagues across a collaborative delivery environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
  • Support the deployment, configuration and management of Azure-based environments.
  • Enable the reliable and repeatable delivery of applications, services and AI-related solutions.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to support consistent and automated environment provisioning.
  • Apply DevSecOps principles, embedding security and best practices throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve build, deployment and environment issues.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, data specialists, AI teams and other technical stakeholders.
  • Support the integration and deployment of AI and machine learning workloads where required.
  • Improve automation, deployment processes and operational reliability.
  • Maintain appropriate technical documentation and contribute to continuous improvement across engineering practices.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience working as an Azure DevOps Engineer or in a similar cloud engineering role.
  • Strong practical experience with Azure DevOps, including pipelines, repositories and automated build and release processes.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services and cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Understanding of Infrastructure as Code and configuration management.
  • Experience with scripting and automation, such as PowerShell, Bash or Python.
  • Knowledge of source control, branching strategies and modern software delivery practices.
  • An understanding of security, governance and DevSecOps principles.
  • Experience working on an AI programme or supporting AI-related technology delivery.
  • Must hold active SC (Security Check) clearance.
  • A resilient, reliable and personable approach, with strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a primarily remote environment while maintaining effective engagement with the wider team.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience supporting AI, machine learning or data science workloads within Azure.
  • Familiarity with Azure Machine Learning or other Azure AI services.
  • Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of monitoring, logging and observability tools.
  • Experience working within UK Government or other security-sensitive environments.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and cross-functional engineering teams.

Working Arrangements

This is a primarily remote opportunity, with attendance required at either the Preston or Farnham location approximately one day per month. Candidates must hold active SC clearance and be comfortable working collaboratively within a remote-first delivery team.
