About The Role
The Azure Engineer role at TEKsystems is a pivotal position designed for a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of cloud-native architectures and Microsoft Azure services. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of full-stack solutions on Azure, primarily utilizing Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). You will be responsible for setting the technical direction, ensuring the implementation of secure, resilient, and observable systems that are straightforward to operate in production environments. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of cloud technology, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that enhance business capabilities. You will be hands-on across the entire stack, mentoring team members, and driving best practices in engineering standards, security, and operational excellence.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates should possess significant experience in senior or lead engineering positions, demonstrating a strong technical foundation in cloud-native development and operations. Essential qualifications include expertise in Java, particularly with Spring Boot, REST API development, and performance tuning. Proficiency in Python for service development, automation, and scripting is also required, with experience using frameworks like FastAPI or Flask. A proven track record of building and maintaining React-based front-end applications, preferably with TypeScript, modern hooks, and comprehensive testing strategies, is essential. Candidates must have practical experience managing workloads on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), including deployments, ingress, autoscaling, and secrets management. Familiarity with containerization using Docker, CI/CD pipeline creation with Azure DevOps, and implementing release strategies such as blue/green and canary deployments are critical. A solid understanding of security practices, including role-based access control, secrets management, and identity protocols like OAuth2 and OIDC, is necessary. Additionally, experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or Bicep, and knowledge of Azure services like ACR, Key Vault, Log Analytics, and Application Insights, will be advantageous.

Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of full-stack applications, including React (TypeScript) front-end interfaces and Java/Python back-end services, focusing on microservices and API development.
- Design and implement cloud-native solutions on AKS, defining service boundaries, resilience patterns, scaling approaches, deployment strategies, and operational readiness plans.
- Develop and operate back-end services using Java (Spring Boot) and Python (FastAPI/Flask), ensuring optimal API design, performance, and security controls.
- Create modern, accessible user interfaces with React, emphasizing reusable components, efficient state management, and robust testing.
- Manage Kubernetes deployments on AKS, including manifests, ingress configurations, autoscaling policies, secrets management, and rollout/rollback procedures.
- Implement DevSecOps practices through Azure DevOps, building CI/CD pipelines with automated testing, security scans, and dependency management.
- Enhance observability by implementing logging, metrics, tracing, and creating actionable alerts, while defining SLOs and SLIs.
- Embed security by design, applying secure coding practices, threat modeling, role-based access controls, secrets management, and identity protocols.
- Mentor and coach engineering team members through code reviews, design discussions, and best practice sharing, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with product, architecture, UX, QA, and platform teams to ensure seamless delivery, risk management, and alignment with business goals.
- Set clear technical direction, balancing delivery speed with long-term maintainability and sustainability.
- Promote an inclusive and diverse engineering environment where varied perspectives are valued and leveraged to improve outcomes.
- Take ownership of delivery commitments and production stability, focusing on root cause analysis and sustainable solutions rather than temporary fixes.
- Facilitate automation, remove blockers, and streamline processes to maintain delivery momentum and high-quality output.
