About The Role
The Azure Engineer role at TEKsystems is a vital position responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure, primarily utilizing Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). The ideal candidate will be a hands-on engineering professional with extensive experience in full-stack development and cloud infrastructure management. This position requires a strategic thinker capable of setting technical direction, establishing engineering standards, and ensuring that solutions are secure, resilient, observable, and easy to operate in production environments. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product managers, architects, UX designers, QA, and platform engineers, to deliver scalable and reliable cloud solutions. The Azure Engineer will also play a key role in fostering a culture of high-quality engineering practices, automation, and continuous improvement, ensuring that the organization’s cloud infrastructure supports current and future business needs effectively.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical expertise and practical experience, including:
- Significant experience in senior or lead engineering roles, delivering and operating production systems at scale.
- Strong proficiency in Java, especially with Spring Boot, REST API development, performance tuning, and testing strategies.
- Hands-on experience with Python for service development and automation, preferably using frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask.
- Proven experience in building and maintaining front-end applications with React, ideally leveraging TypeScript, modern hooks, and comprehensive testing methodologies.
- Extensive experience managing workloads on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), including deployments, ingress, autoscaling, secrets management, and service-to-service communication.
- Practical knowledge of containerization using Docker and deploying containerized applications.
- Experience designing and executing deployment strategies such as blue/green deployments, canary releases, and rolling upgrades.
- Strong understanding of Azure DevOps, with the ability to design and implement CI/CD pipelines incorporating automated testing, security scans, and environment management.
- Knowledge of security best practices, including role-based access control, secrets management with Azure Key Vault, and identity management using OAuth2 and OIDC.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor team members and promote best practices across teams.

Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the Azure Engineer include:
- Leading the end-to-end delivery of full-stack applications, including React (TypeScript) front-end applications and Java/Python back-end services, ensuring high standards of quality and performance.
- Designing and implementing cloud-native solutions on AKS, including defining service boundaries, resilience patterns, scaling approaches, and deployment strategies.
- Developing and maintaining back-end services using Java (Spring Boot) and Python (FastAPI/Flask), with a focus on API design, performance optimization, and security controls.
- Creating modern, accessible user interfaces with React, emphasizing reusable components and efficient state management.
- Managing Kubernetes deployments on AKS, including manifests, ingress configurations, autoscaling, secrets, and configuration management.
- Implementing DevSecOps practices, including building CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps, integrating automated testing, security scans, and dependency checks.
- Driving observability initiatives by implementing logging, metrics, and tracing, and establishing actionable alerts, SLOs, and SLIs.
- Embedding security into the development lifecycle through secure coding practices, threat modeling, role-based access control, and secrets management.
- Mentoring and coaching engineering teams, leading code reviews, and promoting consistent standards and best practices.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to plan delivery, manage risks, and ensure successful project outcomes.
- Establishing clear technical direction, balancing delivery speed with long-term sustainability, and fostering an inclusive engineering culture.
- Ensuring operational excellence by focusing on root cause analysis, reducing technical debt, and automating processes to maintain delivery momentum.
