About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Azure Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure, with a focus on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). You will take a hands-on approach across the full technology stack, guiding technical direction, establishing engineering standards, and ensuring that solutions are secure, resilient, observable, and operationally straightforward. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on complex, high-impact projects within a collaborative environment that values innovation, quality, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud architecture, microservices, and modern development practices, with a passion for delivering scalable and secure cloud solutions.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess significant experience in senior or lead engineering roles, particularly in delivering and operating production systems. A strong hands-on background in Java, especially with Spring Boot, REST API development, and performance tuning is essential. Experience with Python, using frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask, for service development and automation is highly desirable. Proven expertise in building and maintaining front-end applications with React, preferably with TypeScript, modern hooks, and comprehensive testing strategies, is required. Deep knowledge of Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), including deployments, ingress, autoscaling, and secrets management, is critical. Familiarity with containerization using Docker, CI/CD pipeline development with Azure DevOps, and security best practices such as SAST/DAST, role-based access control, and secrets management are also necessary. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of security, reliability, and operability in enterprise environments, with experience applying DevSecOps principles and modern identity management protocols like OAuth2 and OIDC. Additional qualifications include experience with Azure services like ACR, Key Vault, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and API Management, along with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Bicep.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of full-stack applications, including React (TypeScript) front-end interfaces and Java/Python back-end services, encompassing microservices and APIs.
- Design and own cloud-native solutions for AKS-based platforms, defining service boundaries, resilience strategies, scaling approaches, deployment processes, and operational readiness standards.
- Develop, build, and operate back-end services using Java (Spring Boot) and Python (FastAPI/Flask), ensuring API design adherence with OpenAPI, performance optimization, and security controls.
- Create modern, accessible user interfaces with React, emphasizing reusable components, efficient state management, and robust testing practices.
- Manage Kubernetes deployments on AKS, including configuration of manifests, ingress controllers, autoscaling policies, secrets, and configuration management, along with rollout and rollback procedures.
- Implement DevSecOps practices by building CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, integrating automated testing, security scans, and dependency checks to ensure high-quality releases.
- Enhance observability and production stability through logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, and defining Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Indicators (SLIs). Lead incident response and post-incident reviews.
- Embed security by design, incorporating secure coding practices, threat modeling, role-based access controls, secrets management, and modern authentication protocols.
