Azure Migration Engineer (VMware to Azure Local)
Contract | 6 Months | Remote
Role Overview
Our client, a manufacturing organisation, is looking for an experienced Azure Migration Engineer to lead the migration of virtual machine workloads from VMware to Azure Local Stack. This is a hands-on contract covering the full migration lifecycle — from discovery and planning through execution, cutover, and post-migration optimisation.

- Plan and design the VM to Azure migration strategy
- Migrate application VMs from VMware to Azure Local Stack
- Troubleshoot VM conversion, networking, storage, and compatibility issues
- Conduct migration discovery, dependency analysis, and readiness assessments
- Execute cutovers and coordinate migration activities with stakeholders
- Perform post-migration validation, optimisation, and issue resolution
- Ensure compliance with security, backup, DR, and governance standards

Requirements
- Proven experience delivering VMware to Azure migrations
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure Local Stack
- Experience supporting Azure migrations within manufacturing environments
- Solid understanding of VM conversion, networking, and storage compatibility issues
- Experience coordinating cutover activities with cross-functional stakeholders
- Experience of security, backup, DR, and governance frameworks
