A leading Microsoft Services client is seeking an experienced Azure Platform Engineer to join their team on an initial 6-month contract, with strong potential for extension.

Role Overview

The role will combine Azure platform engineering, DevOps automation, application infrastructure support, and technical delivery. The primary responsibility is to build and operate secure, reliable, and scalable environments, improve deployment practices, support integrations, and ensure business-critical platforms remain observable and resilient.

Azure Platform Engineer – Role Details

  • Role: Azure DevOps Consultant
  • Start: ASAP
  • Location: Remote - occasional travel to Dublin or London when needed
  • Duration: 6 months initially, with potential for extension
  • Engagement: Contract

Azure Platform Engineer – Key Responsibilities

The successful consultant will be responsible for:

  • Designing, deploying, and supporting secure and scalable Azure environments
  • Developing and improving CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
  • Supporting application infrastructure, integrations, and production environments
  • Implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation solutions
  • Supporting identity, access management, security, and governance across Azure
  • Improving platform monitoring, observability, resilience, and performance
  • Supporting SQL Server and Azure SQL environments, including access, backups, and troubleshooting
  • Contributing to vulnerability management, incident response, and operational security

Azure Platform Engineer – Key Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience across the Microsoft Azure platform, including compute, networking, storage, identity, monitoring, security, and governance
  • Strong Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Enterprise experience, including repositories, pipelines, releases, and deployment automation
  • Hands-on experience with Bicep, ARM Templates, and/or Terraform
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell and Azure CLI
  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, IAM, RBAC, and privileged access
  • Understanding of secure application delivery, configuration, and secrets management
  • Experience with Azure Monitor, Application Insights, or equivalent observability tooling
  • Knowledge of SQL Server / Azure SQL, including access management, backups, and troubleshooting
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, and private/hybrid connectivity
  • Experience across Microsoft 365, Intune, and endpoint management
  • Understanding of vulnerability management, threat alerts, and incident response
