Job Description

B Licence Driver - White Glove

Based at Polarspeed Distribution Ltd, Unit 2 Belgrave Court, Caxton Road, Fulwood, Preston, PR2 9ZB

Monday - Friday - 40 hours per week - 6.30am start

Salary: £26,437 p/a based on 40 hours, £12.71 per hour. Weekend and bank holiday working is paid at time and one half rate at £19.06 per hour.

Additional allowance: £25 per day, £6500 P/A

The company specializes in active temperature-controlled deliveries to hospitals, pharmacies, wholesalers and medical care surgeries as well as to end patients which it serves through its home care business. Its customers include some of the best known pharmaceutical brands in the world.

As a delivery and collection driver, White Glove is an additional service we offer hospitals, so the ideal candidate must be focused on attention to detail. This role will require the driver to be on site the whole day at the hospital, and working in a chilled area at times, the process is quite an involved and nice service that we offer to our client. Some hospitals are introducing item scanning instead of manual counting, full training will be given.

As a delivery driver white glove, you’ll work a minimum of 40 hours per week and must be flexible and prepared to work additional hours as and when required to meet our service requirements which may be of an urgent medical nature.

We offer a wide range of benefits including 28 days’ holiday (including bank holidays) building to 33 days (including bank holidays) in the sixth full holiday year and a company pension scheme, and UPS Perks At Work scheme.

Due to the nature of the work we do and for successful applicants, Polar Speed will be required to process enhanced disclosure criminal record checks, and 3 year referencing checks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Scan pallets / boxes at the depot and load all stock to the vehicle
  • Complete daily safety checks of vehicle and refrigeration unit
  • Upon arrival at the designated hospital scan all stock
  • The stock is unpacked and taken to correct hospital department
  • Product lines and numbers checked against the packing list and stock rotated
  • The driver must conduct stock counts so must be accurate
  • There can be several put away locations at each hospital, so the driver must become familiar with these areas and the different product lines

Key Skills/Experience/Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years’ driving experience
  • Must hold a B category driving licence (ideally no more than 3 points)
  • Previous temperature controlled delivery driver experience advantageous
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with customers/clients, whilst appreciating the need for maintaining confidentiality
  • Good organisation skills with the ability to prioritize
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational skills with ability to work on own initiative
  • Team player mentality
