Role: UK CAA B1 Licensed Engineer
Location: Prestwick
Maintenance: Base Maintenance
Shift Pattern: 5, 5, 4 | 07:00–19:00
Salary: Up to £84,190 basic, including shift and approval pay
Role Requirements
- Valid UK CAA B1 Part-66 Licence
- EASA licence desirable
- Recent experience on at least one of the following aircraft types:
- A320 – preferred
- A330
- B737
- B787
- Minimum of five years’ hands-on aircraft maintenance experience
- Previous experience certifying aircraft under a Part-66 licence and appropriate company authorisation
Approval Pay
- £2,000 for the first wide-body or narrow-body approval
- £1,000 for each additional wide-body or narrow-body approval
- Up to £6,000 total approval pay
About the Role
Reporting to the Check Manager, the B1 Licensed Engineer will be responsible for carrying out certification activities within the aircraft zones or areas assigned to them.
You will work closely with the wider maintenance team to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with regulatory requirements, company procedures and aircraft delivery timescales.
Key Responsibilities
- Certify completed maintenance work in accordance with the scope and privileges of the authorisation held and the Storm Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE).
- Supervise staff allocated to the aircraft or zone for which you are accountable, working closely with the Lead Mechanic.
- Report any significant findings that could affect aircraft delivery to the Shift Manager as soon as possible.
- Ensure work is carried out efficiently to support required aircraft turnaround and delivery times.
- Maintain continuity between shifts by completing the handover log and providing clear and accurate shift handovers.
- Identify and request required spares efficiently to minimise delays to rectification work.
- Ensure bay production boards are kept up to date and accurately reflect aircraft progress, critical items, timelines and personnel.
- Maintain awareness of Human Factors and ensure health and safety standards are upheld in accordance with the Company Safety Manual.
- Raise safety reports following incidents or the identification of hazards.
- Ensure the bay and immediate working areas are kept clean and tidy, with daily housekeeping audits completed as required.
- Ensure staff are correctly booked onto the relevant systems so that hours worked are recorded accurately.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties required to support the operation.

About You
You will have:
- A recognised apprenticeship within the aircraft industry or a similar technical discipline.
- A valid and current UK CAA Part-66 licence with the appropriate aircraft type rating.
- Strong technical experience within the aviation industry.
- Demonstrable knowledge of airworthiness regulations, the MOE and the Minimum Equipment List (MEL), including its application.
- A good understanding of the Structural Repair Manual (SRM), the limitations of technical data and the implications of working outside approved data.
- Working knowledge of aircraft maintenance production planning.
- A high standard of written and spoken English.
- Strong computer literacy, particularly across Microsoft Office.

Working Relationships
The B1 Licensed Engineer will work closely with colleagues across Maintenance, Planning, Production, Safety and Compliance, as well as providing operational information to management where required.
The role does not hold direct budget responsibility, but you will be expected to carry out activities with an awareness of the budget allocated to the station.
