We are seeking two enthusiastic new team members to join the Financial Planning and Corporate Reporting branches of Social Security Scotland’s Corporate Finance unit as a B1 Finance Officer, on a Temporary Promotion or Temporary level transfer basis.
In this role you’ll have many opportunities to work on varied activities, with a range of stakeholders, and will be fully supported in developing your skills and career. This is an excellent opportunity to work in an environment that is always looking for ways to continually improve their service to our clients.
You will review and update financial forecasts to support decisions by senior leadership on strategic investment decisions and budget allocations. This will involve working closely with a range of stakeholders across the organisation to ensure forecasts are robust & reliable. Our work is fast-paced and often involves working to deadlines & prioritising multiple tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities
- Maintain and update our current year and long-term financial forecasts and associated processes on a regular basis, ensuring our forecasts are robust.
- Analyse financial information to ensure value for money is delivered.
- Contribute to the organisation’s processes for setting, revising and monitoring budgets.
- Ensure there are adequate and clear audit trails in place for all processes including in year and longer-term forecast updates.
- Embrace change and improvement activities by contributing your ideas to the development of in year forecasting and longer-term reporting processes as the organisation evolves.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with colleagues within Social Security Scotland, the wider directorate, and the Scottish Government.
- Work flexibly across the Finance team, taking on a range of other work as required to ensure that priorities are met.

Duration of Temporary Opportunity
This opportunity is for up to 6 months in duration.
Hybrid Working
Our standard hours are 35 hours per week, and we offer a range of flexible working options, depending on the needs of the role. We embrace a hybrid working style where all colleagues will spend time in either our Glasgow or Dundee offices. There is an expectation of a minimum 2 days per week in your assigned location.

This role is only available to existing permanent civil servants who have successfully completed their probation period within Social Security Scotland, Scottish Government Main or Common Citizenship organisations.
