STS Aviation Services is hiring a B2 Licenced Engineer in Birmingham, United Kingdom, to support aircraft modification and production operations.

This opportunity is available on either a contract or permanent basis and operates on a day/night shift rotation. The B2 Licenced Engineer will work alongside the Lead Avionics Subject Matter Expert, supervising avionics technicians, supporting detailed inspections and helping ensure all avionics work meets required quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

Position Overview

The B2 Licenced Engineer will supervise a skilled team of avionics technicians while supporting inspections, maintenance, modifications, testing, and troubleshooting activities.

This position acts as a key point of contact for avionics-related aspects of the programme and works closely with the Avionics Lead SME. The role also provides regular progress updates to the Line Manager and helps identify and resolve issues affecting quality, productivity, and programme performance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise avionics technicians during production and modification activities
  • Perform detailed inspections in accordance with Boeing specifications
  • Ensure required quality standards are maintained throughout avionics activities
  • Promote safe and efficient working practices
  • Coordinate avionics tasks to support production and modification programme requirements
  • Act as a key point of contact for avionics-related programme activities
  • Work closely with the Lead Avionics Subject Matter Expert
  • Provide regular progress updates to the Line Manager
  • Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and regulatory requirements
  • Track allocated task card hours for avionics maintenance and modification work
  • Identify discrepancies between planned and actual task hours
  • Analyse root causes for schedule or labour-hour variations
  • Escalate variations to Line Managers, Planners, and Programme teams
  • Recommend process improvements to improve efficiency and resource allocation
  • Support avionics system testing and validation
  • Troubleshoot avionics system issues
  • Mentor junior avionics personnel

Qualifications

  • CAA/EASA Part 66 B2 Licence
  • Boeing 737NG type rating
  • Previous aircraft modification experience
  • Excellent knowledge of avionics systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Eligible to live and work in the United Kingdom
  • Ability to meet UK security vetting requirements
