B2B Energy Sales Consultant – Remote / Home Worker
£30,000 - £55,000 + Uncapped Commission (£140,000 Average Earnings)
Remote / Home-Based (UK) | Full-time | Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm
You've run your own pipeline in energy before. You've prospected, pitched, negotiated, and closed. You know how supplier tender processes work, you can read a bill, and you've had conversations with MDs and procurement directors about six-figure energy spend. You don't need training on what the energy market is — you need a better platform to operate from.
As a remote Energy Consultant at NGP, you'll run your own book end to end — prospecting, qualifying, pitching, negotiating, and closing. The pipeline is yours, the relationships are yours, and the commission is entirely yours. No splits, no sharing, no ceiling.
This is a role with high rejection rates, although the rewards are high, this role can be extremely difficult when there's no floor energy to carry you through a slow afternoon, no manager walking past to check you're still dialling, and no one to celebrate with when a deal lands. If you're the kind of person who thrives on autonomy and is motivated by ownership, this is the role. If you need external structure to stay productive, it isn't.
What you'll actually be doing
- Prospecting and pipeline building: making 50–80+ outbound calls per day to identify and engage new business opportunities through cold-calling
- Full sales cycle ownership: from first conversation to signed contract, including pricing discussions, supplier negotiations, and tender management. You create your own pipeline through cold calling
- Account management and renewals: building long-term customer relationships that generate repeat business and referrals
- Commercial decision-making: advising customers on procurement strategy, contract timing, market conditions, and risk management
- Working remotely with the trading and procurement desk to structure competitive offers and navigate supplier dynamics
- Managing your CRM pipeline meticulously — as a remote worker, your data IS your visibility. If it's not in the system, your manager can't see it, can't coach you on it, and can't help you close it
- Attending daily virtual stand-ups, weekly pipeline reviews, and monthly in-person team days
Your work will involve outbound prospecting, customer relationship management, and deal progression. The balance shifts as your book matures. Early on your work will be heavily weighted to prospecting and winning new business. As you progress, your time will become more focused on renewals and account management.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
- You control your own income. Every deal you close is fully yours, no commission-sharing
- You control your own environment. No commute, no office distractions, no wasted time. Your entire working day is productive selling time, you just need a dedicated quiet work space with reliable broadband connection
- Your pipeline and reputation compound. You become the go-to person for your clients, winning more business via referrals and renewals
- You're supported, not micromanaged. You'll be mentored by experienced managers and coaches with the full trading desk behind you — all accessible via Teams and phone
- Progression is based on performance, not tenure. Progression from Consultant to Closer and beyond is possible with hard work
What's in it for you
- Uncapped commission — fully attributed to you, no splits
- Fully remote working with full tech setup provided: laptop, headset, dual monitors, and all software
- Long-term career development opportunities which may evolve into senior commercial, leadership, or more specialist roles
- 23 days holiday + additional December leave (December off) + bank holidays
- Pension and access to Simplyhealth (money towards dental care, eyesight checks, physio, etc.)
- Exciting incentives for excellent performers (so far this year, we've sent our people for VIP experiences to: Monaco Grand Prix, Tomorrowland, Champions League matches, Royal Ascot, Wimbledon to name a few…)
- Quarterly in-person team days at Gateshead HQ — the buzz of the floor when you want it, the quiet of home when you need it
Your first 90 days
- Weeks 1–3: Intensive training on NGP's commercial approach, CRM systems, trading desk processes, and supplier landscape. You'll shadow experienced ECs, spend time with the trading team, and build the relationships you'll rely on when you're remote. This is the only mandatory in-office period.
- Weeks 4–8 (Home): You're prospecting from home with support. Daily virtual check-ins with your manager, call reviews, and pipeline coaching. Your manager reviews your pipeline, sales strategy, and helps you structure your first proposals to get those early wins.
- Weeks 9–12 (Home): You're operating independently with a growing pipeline. First commissions land. Check-ins reduce as you demonstrate you can manage your book, your time, and your motivation without daily oversight.
This is for you, if
- You have at least 1 year’s experience in the energy sector — TPI, brokerage, supplier, or consultancy. You've managed your own pipeline end-to-end and closed commercial energy contracts
- You have demonstrable B2B energy sales experience with a consistent track record of hitting or exceeding targets in a KPI-driven environment
- You are a self-starter who doesn't need someone else to structure your day, your pipeline, or your motivation
- You've worked remotely before and can honestly say you performed as well (or better) than you did in an office
- You are a confident communicator who is comfortable speaking to MDs, FDs, and procurement teams without a manager listening in
- You have a suitable home workspace with reliable broadband and a professional, distraction-free environment
- You are commercially curious — you understand how energy markets work, you have a hunger for knowledge, and you proactively uncover opportunities that others overlook

This is not for you, if
- You've never worked in the energy or utilities sector — this role requires sector knowledge from day one
- You've never done outbound B2B sales before and aren't sure you'd enjoy it
- You think remote working is easier than office working — it's not. The targets are identical, the expectations are identical, and the only thing that's different is that nobody is watching
- You need team energy and office buzz to stay motivated
- You don't have a dedicated, private workspace with reliable internet
- You're uncomfortable with rejection — you'll hear "no" more than "yes"
- You want no performance pressure

About our People

They already understood supplier dynamics, contract structures, and the commercial energy sales cycle before they joined. What NGP gave them was uncapped, unsplit commission, a full trading desk behind them, and the autonomy to run their book from anywhere in the UK.
