The Role at a Glance

Build your own portfolio of business customers by finding, approaching and winning medium and large organisations that need refurbished devices, repairs, corporate buyback, recycling and other mobile-device lifecycle services.

This is a new-business sales role, not account administration. The telephone will be your primary sales tool, alongside LinkedIn, inbound leads and other prospecting methods. Once you win a customer, you'll own the relationship and develop the account.

Previous sales experience isn't essential. We're looking for someone confident, articulate, personable, resilient and commercially driven who enjoys speaking to people, isn't frightened of hearing "no" and gets satisfaction from winning business.

£28,000–£32,000 basic + uncapped commission | OTE £45,000–£55,000 | Full-time

What will you be selling?

We're able to support businesses throughout the lifecycle of their mobile devices.

You'll Introduce Potential Customers To Products And Services Including

  • Refurbished mobile phones and devices for businesses
  • Bulk and corporate device supply
  • Mobile phone and device repair services
  • Refurbishment and lifecycle support
  • Corporate mobile phone buyback and trade-in
  • Purchasing businesses' old, unwanted or surplus devices
  • Secure device recycling and responsible disposal
  • Secure data erasure and related services
  • Ongoing device and account support

You won't simply be selling one product.

The objective is to understand how an organisation currently manages its devices, identify where we can provide value and build a commercial relationship that can develop over time.

What You'll Be Doing

A significant part of your role will be new business development and outbound prospecting.

You'll Be

  • Identifying businesses and organisations that could benefit from our products and services
  • Researching companies and finding the appropriate decision-makers
  • Prospecting predominantly through LinkedIn, telephone and other business sources
  • Making outbound calls and introducing The Big Phone Store
  • Following up inbound leads and enquiries
  • Re-engaging dormant and previous B2B customers
  • Speaking with IT, procurement, operations, finance, sustainability and other relevant decision-makers
  • Understanding how prospective customers currently buy, manage, repair and dispose of their mobile devices
  • Identifying commercial opportunities rather than simply trying to make a quick sale
  • Explaining the commercial benefits of refurbished technology
  • Preparing and following up quotations and proposals
  • Handling objections and progressing opportunities
  • Keeping CRM records, opportunities and follow-ups accurate and up to date
  • Building a sales pipeline and consistently working it
  • Winning new customers
  • Developing the accounts you win and identifying further opportunities within them
  • Building long-term relationships rather than simply completing one transaction
  • Working towards individual sales, activity and commercial targets

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

As you develop within the role, there will also be opportunities to attend trade shows, exhibitions, networking events and customer meetings.

The Telephone Will Be Your Primary Sales Tool

This point is important.

If you're uncomfortable picking up the telephone and initiating conversations with businesses you've never spoken to before, this isn't the right role for you.

Email, LinkedIn and other channels are useful tools, but they aren't substitutes for having conversations.

We don't want someone spending the day sending emails because they're reluctant to make a call.

You'll need to be comfortable finding the right person, picking up the phone, starting a conversation and explaining why speaking to The Big Phone Store could be worthwhile.

Some people won't answer.

Some won't be interested.

Some will tell you no.

That's part of business development.

You need the resilience to deal with rejection, learn from conversations, refine your approach and make the next call.

You Don't Need Previous Sales Experience

Previous B2B sales or mobile phone industry experience isn't essential.

We're more interested in your attitude, communication skills, personality and desire to succeed.

You could be at the beginning of your commercial career and turn out to be exceptional at sales.

What matters is whether you have the characteristics needed to succeed.

We're Looking For Someone Who Is

  • Ambitious and motivated
  • Confident speaking to new people
  • Personable, engaging and able to build rapport
  • Comfortable initiating conversations
  • Target and goal driven
  • Persistent without being pushy
  • Resilient when dealing with rejection
  • Good at listening and asking questions
  • Able to think on their feet
  • Comfortable handling objections
  • Curious about businesses and how they operate
  • Commercially minded
  • Organised with follow-ups
  • Comfortable using computers, CRM systems and technology
  • Able to work independently without needing constant prompting
  • Willing to continually refine their approach
  • Interested in building a long-term career in B2B sales

We're not looking for someone who simply wants to service an existing list of accounts.

We're looking for someone who wants to create opportunities and build their own portfolio of customers.

You'll Need To

Excellent English and communication skills are essential

  • Speak confidently and professionally on the telephone
  • Build rapport quickly
  • Explain products and services clearly
  • Understand what a potential customer is telling you
  • Ask intelligent and relevant questions
  • Listen rather than simply deliver a sales pitch
  • Handle questions and objections confidently
  • Write professional emails and proposals
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and management
  • Speak up when you identify a problem or opportunity
  • Provide useful feedback without waiting to be asked

These communication skills are an essential requirement of the position and will be assessed during our recruitment process.

We're looking for motivation and perseverance

Business development isn't about making ten calls and giving up because nobody bought anything.

Relationships can take time to develop.

A company that isn't interested today could become an important customer six months from now.

We want someone who understands the importance of consistent follow-up, staying organised and continuing to develop opportunities.

You need to be motivated by achieving something, not simply by completing your working hours.

Once you've learned the role, we'll expect you to take increasing ownership of your pipeline, activity, customers and results.

Own and grow the customers you win

When you successfully bring a new customer into the business, you won't simply hand them over and start again.

Training, development and commission

We don't expect you to arrive knowing every product, service or sales process.

During your first few months, you'll learn our business, our services, our customers, our systems and how we approach B2B sales.

You'll receive direction, support and feedback, but we'll also expect you to learn quickly, take responsibility and increasingly work independently.

The better you perform and the stronger the customer portfolio you build, the greater your earning potential.

Why join The Big Phone Store?

This is an opportunity to join an established business while being part of a growing B2B division.

Rather than inheriting an account list and simply administering it, you'll have the opportunity to build something of your own within the business.

You'll learn how to prospect, sell, negotiate, manage accounts and develop commercial relationships while building a customer portfolio that you can continue growing.

For somebody with the right personality, motivation and perseverance, there is considerable scope to develop both your career and your earnings.

Recruitment process

CVs only tell us so much.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to take part in an assessment as part of our recruitment process.

Because telephone communication is fundamental to this role, you should expect the assessment to include a practical sales conversation or telephone-based exercise.

We're not expecting somebody without sales experience to know every sales technique.

We'll be looking at how you communicate, listen, think on your feet, respond to objections, build rapport and react when a conversation doesn't immediately go your way.

We're interested in your potential, attitude and ability, not simply the companies you've previously worked for.

If you're ambitious, resilient, good with people and prepared to pick up the phone and create your own opportunities, we'd like to hear from you.
