Art(s) Therapist (Band 7) – Part-time

We are excited to offer an opportunity for a part-time, 2 days, Band 7 Art(s) Therapist to join our dynamic and highly valued Adult Arts Therapies Team. Work days can be agreed at the interview.

Based at Unither House, this role covers the North West Surrey and North East Hampshire localities. The successful candidate will receive referrals from the Neighbourhood Mental Health Services and will be expected to work flexibly across the Trust in response to service needs.

We are particularly interested in applicants with experience of working with adults presenting with severe, enduring, and complex mental health difficulties.

The successful candidate will be a qualified Art(s) Psychotherapist with substantial experience working within mental health services. You will demonstrate expertise in assessment, formulation, and therapeutic intervention, and have experience delivering both individual and group therapy to people with complex psychological and emotional needs.

You will be able to work autonomously while contributing effectively within multidisciplinary teams, supporting the delivery of high-quality, recovery-focused care. Additional specialist training relevant to this client group is highly desirable, including: Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Structured Clinical Management (SCM), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert leadership and clinical oversight for a specialist art therapy service, ensuring high standards of care, clinical governance, service development, and contribution to the strategic growth of Arts Therapies.
  • Deliver highly specialised art therapy assessment and interventions for people with learning disabilities, working collaboratively with individuals, families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to promote psychological wellbeing, choice, independence, and positive outcomes.
  • Support quality improvement, professional development, and education through staff supervision, training delivery, research, clinical audit, policy development, safeguarding, and the implementation of national and local service priorities.
