Backend Developer | UK
A pioneering medical technology company is transforming the way donated organs are preserved and assessed. The company has developed innovative technology that is helping advance the future of organ transplantation. The technology has now supported thousands of transplants worldwide.
They are now looking to hire an experienced Backend Developer. In this role, you’ll work extensively with C#,.NET, Azure, SQL, APIs, and cloud-based services. You’ll be involved in developing backend services, designing and integrating APIs, working with databases, and building scalable cloud solutions using Microsoft Azure.
Major Responsibilities
- Solve interesting technical challenges rather than simply maintaining legacy systems
- Work alongside a collaborative team that values good engineering
- Have the opportunity to grow your skills and influence the technology direction
- Build and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, databases and Azure cloud solutions
- Develop automation and DevOps workflows, including CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code and deployment pipelines
- Design, test and optimise reliable software using unit, integration and automated testing
- Collaborate with technical and product teams to shape requirements, architecture and solutions
- Maintain high standards of security, quality, compliance, documentation and data protection
- Monitor and improve live systems, troubleshooting issues and supporting controlled production releases while delivering technology with real-world impact

Key Skills
- We’re looking for an experienced Backend Developer with strong skills in databases, cloud services and modern software engineering.
- You’ll be passionate about building secure, scalable and maintainable software, with experience in testing, DevOps and CI/CD
- Experience building reliable software that supports healthcare or patient-focused applications
- Strong backend development for secure healthcare platforms and services
- Developing scalable, resilient cloud solutions for digital health applications
- Building secure APIs and integrating systems, services and healthcare data
- Strong SQL/database skills with an understanding of data quality, security and performance
- Understanding of cybersecurity, authentication, data protection and secure software development
- Ideally experience with medical devices, healthcare regulation, traceability, validation or risk management
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, event-driven systems or regulated healthcare/medtech would be a bonus

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or another STEM related subject, or equivalent experience
