We are working with a leading public sector consultancy, helping them find a Back End Developer to build, scale, and maintain backend services for critical citizen-facing and internal systems.
The Role
- Design, build and maintain backend services and APIs using TypeScript
- Take ownership of AWS infrastructure, including provisioning, scaling, and cost management
- Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines for frequent, reliable deployments
- Write and manage infrastructure as code using Terraform to ensure consistent environments
- Work closely with product owners, architects, and other engineers to translate requirements into robust technical solutions
- Monitor system performance and reliability, proactively resolving issues before they impact users

What You'll Need
- Strong commercial experience with TypeScript in a back-end context
- Solid hands-on AWS experience (e.g., Lambda, ECS, RDS, S3, IAM)
- Proven DevOps background, including building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Practical Terraform experience across real production environments
- Comfortable working independently in a remote-first setup, with flexibility to travel to Leeds monthly
- Strong understanding of secure coding practices and cloud security fundamentals
