Lead Backend Engineer - Go + Distributed Systems
📍 London - 3 days onsite
📄 6 months starting ASAP
💰 Competitive day rate - Outside IR35
I'm working with an innovative technology company looking for a Lead Backend Engineer to help build and evolve a highly scalable workflow orchestration platform used in a complex enterprise environment.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys solving difficult backend and distributed systems problems at scale.

You'll have experience with:
- Production Go (Golang)
- Distributed systems and event-driven architectures
- Kubernetes and cloud-native platforms
- gRPC / Protobuf APIs
- Workflow orchestration (Temporal or similar is a plus)
- Designing reliable, fault-tolerant backend services

- Multi-tenant SaaS platforms
- High-throughput systems (payments, fintech, platform engineering, infrastructure)
- Identity, security and audit
- AI, LLM or agent-based systems
We're looking for engineers who can own technical decisions, contribute to architecture and build production-grade backend systems that are resilient, scalable and maintainable.
