Shopify Developer – Backend & Integrations

Remote – UK
£55,000 – £70,000 + 20% bonus

My client is a rapidly growing ecommerce business investing heavily in its technology estate as it continues to scale.

They're looking for a hands-on Shopify Developer to join their engineering team, with a particular focus on backend development, APIs and integrations across Shopify and the wider systems landscape.

This isn't a traditional frontend Shopify role. You'll be working on the systems and data flows behind the ecommerce platform, connecting Shopify with ERP, warehouse, fulfilment and other operational platforms.

The role

  • Build and maintain integrations using Shopify APIs and webhooks
  • Develop backend services using JavaScript / TypeScript / Node.js
  • Work with data flows across orders, customers, products, inventory and fulfilment
  • Integrate Shopify with ERP, WMS and other third-party platforms
  • Build and maintain custom Shopify applications and functionality
  • Diagnose integration failures, data discrepancies and production issues
  • Improve the reliability and scalability of existing integrations
  • Work closely with ecommerce, ERP and wider technology teams on new requirements

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience with Shopify Plus, NetSuite, ERP/WMS integrations, Celigo or other iPaaS platforms would be a big advantage, but isn't essential.

The key requirement is someone who enjoys the backend and integration side of Shopify rather than purely frontend/theme development.
