About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Developer with expertise in Umbraco, C#, and .NET to join a dynamic digital team within an award-winning Travel Company. This role offers the flexibility of 100% remote working, allowing you to operate effectively from anywhere in the UK. As a key member of the development team, you will be responsible for leading the ongoing development and enhancement of the company's eCommerce platform and internal applications. Your technical leadership will be instrumental in driving innovation, improving user experience, and automating key processes to support the company's growth and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in backend development with proven experience in ASP.NET, C#, and related technologies. A thorough understanding of HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, and modern frameworks such as React is essential. Experience working with MS SQL Server, MongoDB, and Elasticsearch is required, along with a solid grasp of SOLID development principles. Familiarity with Umbraco CMS, continuous delivery tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Octopus), and Azure cloud services is highly desirable. Candidates should also have experience with REST APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger documentation, and messaging formats like JSON, XML, and SOAP. Additional skills in PowerBI, PowerQuery, and R, combined with knowledge of structured testing methodologies such as Test Driven Development and Behaviour Driven Development, will be advantageous. A proactive, collaborative attitude and experience working within agile/Kanban environments are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Backend Developer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the technical development of the company's eCommerce website and internal applications.
  • Collaborating closely with front-end developers and design teams to deliver seamless UI and UX improvements.
  • Using analytical skills to identify and implement enhancements to existing features, as well as automating manual processes in partnership with business leads.
  • Developing and maintaining APIs, ensuring their documentation and messaging formats adhere to best practices.
  • Implementing automated regression testing to maintain software quality.
  • Managing deployment pipelines and utilizing continuous delivery tools.
  • Challenging current processes constructively and suggesting innovative solutions.
  • Contributing to a collaborative, agile working environment.
