About The Role

Waracle is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Developer to join its dynamic team. As a pivotal member of our technology group, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and secure backend systems, primarily utilizing Go (Golang). This hybrid role offers the flexibility of working from our London office two days a week, fostering collaboration and innovation within a supportive environment. In this position, you will play a critical role in architectural delivery, technical guidance, and mentorship, contributing to the continuous improvement of our development practices and technical excellence.

The ideal candidate will possess a passion for solving complex technical challenges, a commitment to high-quality code, and the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.   • Proven experience building, scaling, and troubleshooting secure Go (Golang) systems and microservices in high-traffic environments.
  • Experience working with at least one other major programming language, showcasing a flexible and polyglot mindset.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies, particularly Kubernetes and Helm, for deploying and managing containerized applications.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, with a track record of delivering high-quality software through continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
  • Experience in designing and implementing comprehensive testing strategies, including unit, integration, and service-level testing.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language for diverse audiences.
  • Supportive leadership qualities, including mentorship, code review, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to evaluate technical trade-offs thoughtfully, balancing delivery speed with system stability and performance.
  • Bonus skills include experience with Java development, SQL databases, monitoring tools like SPLUNK, and advanced deployment practices with Helm.

Responsibilities

The Senior Developer at Waracle will undertake a range of responsibilities aimed at delivering high-quality, scalable, and secure systems, including:

  • Architecting and developing end-to-end backend subsystems using Go, ensuring modularity, maintainability, and scalability.
  • Championing engineering excellence through code reviews, adherence to security best practices, and proactive security measures.
  • Providing technical guidance on testing strategies, including unit, integration, and service-level testing, while exploring innovative industry ideas.
  • Collaborating with clients and internal teams to translate complex technical requirements into clear solutions and engaging demonstrations.
  • Mentoring colleagues through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and supporting their professional growth.
  • Evaluating trade-offs between delivery speed and system health, taking shared accountability for successful feature launches.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the team, advocating for best practices and emerging technologies.
