About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Developer to join our dynamic team on a contract basis. This role is fully remote within the UK and offers an exciting opportunity to work on a next-generation platform that integrates AI and data analytics to provide valuable insights to our clients. As a senior member of the engineering team, you will operate with a high degree of independence, taking ownership of critical components of our backend infrastructure. Your expertise will be instrumental in designing, developing, and deploying scalable distributed systems, data pipelines, and AI-driven features that form the core of our platform.
This is a hands-on role that emphasizes delivery and technical excellence. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance. Qualifications
- Extensive experience in backend development, particularly with Python.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and cloud infrastructure, preferably Azure.
- Proficiency in working with serverless technologies, SQL-based data systems, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with AI/ML integrations and cloud AI platforms such as Azure AI Foundry.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to proactively identify and resolve technical issues.
- Previous experience working on greenfield projects and taking ownership of deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and distributed systems.
- Build and optimize data pipelines to support complex data processing and analytics.
- Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and frontend developers to deliver integrated AI-driven features.
- Take ownership of technical tasks from initial design through to deployment and production support.
- Proactively identify and resolve technical blockers to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Implement best practices for code quality, testing, and deployment in a cloud environment.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and technical strategy for the platform.
- Maintain high standards of observability, security, and performance across all backend systems.
