Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should possess a strong foundation in backend development and a passion for engineering excellence. Proven hands-on experience building, scaling, and troubleshooting secure Go (Golang) systems and microservices in high-traffic environments is essential. You should have experience working with at least one other major programming language, demonstrating a polyglot mindset that enables contribution across diverse tech stacks and architectural patterns.

Practical knowledge of cloud-native technologies, particularly Kubernetes and Helm, is required for deploying and managing resilient containerized applications. Experience navigating full Agile delivery cycles, transforming designs into high-quality, maintainable code, and working with Continuous Delivery pipelines is vital. Additionally, a supportive leadership style, a commitment to clean code and comprehensive testing, and the ability to solve complex technical problems thoughtfully are important qualities. Bonus skills include familiarity with Java development, SQL databases, monitoring tools like SPLUNK, and deployment with Helm.

  • Champion engineering best practices by conducting constructive peer reviews and implementing proactive security measures to safeguard systems.
  • Guide testing strategies at unit, integration, and service levels, continuously exploring industry innovations to enhance our practice.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language for client stakeholders, and deliver engaging solution demonstrations.
  • Mentor and coach colleagues, sharing knowledge and lessons learned to foster collective growth and technical excellence within the team.
  • Evaluate technical trade-offs carefully, balancing delivery speed with system health, long-term maintainability, and performance.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project delivery and alignment with client objectives.
