About The Role
We are seeking a skilled Product-Focused Backend Engineer with expertise in functional programming and distributed systems to join our client's dynamic engineering team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the cutting edge of AI infrastructure, supporting a platform that enables professionals in highly regulated industries to interact with complex, multi-modal data through custom no-code AI agents. As a Backend Engineer, you will be instrumental in developing scalable, reliable APIs and systems that underpin both internal tools and customer-facing applications. Your work will directly impact the ability of users to deploy AI solutions that are transparent, verifiable, and compliant with industry standards.

Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with functional programming languages such as Elixir, Scala, Haskell, Clojure, Go, Node.js, or F#.
- Proven track record of designing, building, and scaling distributed backend systems.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure-as-code practices and cloud orchestration tools like AWS, Terraform, and Docker.
- Experience with queue management systems, observability tooling, and shipping in fast-paced environments.
- Familiarity with generative AI models, prompt engineering, or a keen interest in developing expertise in these areas.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of product ownership and a passion for solving end-user challenges.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively within a cross-functional team.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain APIs that serve as the backbone for internal systems and customer-facing applications.
- Scale the platform to support multi-tenant environments and high-throughput AI workloads effectively.
- Apply foundation models such as GPT-4.1, Claude 4, Gemini 1.5, and their successors to real-world, multi-modal data challenges.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to ship features daily, ensuring alignment with user needs and business goals.
- Participate in planning, testing, analysis, and technical decision-making to improve system performance and reliability.
- Define technical metrics, set goals, and prioritize tasks to deliver high-quality solutions efficiently.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement through code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
