About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with expertise in pricing, inventory, and availability systems to join a dynamic team supporting a high-traffic global e-commerce platform. This role involves developing and enhancing scalable, reliable services that handle millions of customer searches across multiple international markets. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing resilient APIs, optimizing platform performance, and ensuring data accuracy and freshness. This is a contract position initially lasting six months, offering an excellent opportunity for experienced engineers to impact a major online retail ecosystem. The role is fully remote, providing flexibility and the chance to work with a talented team in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software development, particularly with Node.js and TypeScript. They should have demonstrated experience building pricing, inventory, or availability systems within high-traffic e-commerce, marketplace, or travel platforms. Proficiency in SQL and experience integrating with third-party APIs, especially unreliable or poorly documented ones, is essential. Candidates should have a solid understanding of caching strategies, data freshness, cache invalidation, and designing reliable APIs with features like retries, timeouts, and backpressure. A track record of taking ownership across testing, CI/CD, deployment, and monitoring processes is crucial. Familiarity with AI coding tools or large language model-based development tools is desirable.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable and reliable pricing, inventory, and availability services to support high-volume customer searches.
- Implement caching strategies and data freshness mechanisms to optimize performance and reduce infrastructure costs.
- Create resilient APIs and third-party integrations, ensuring robustness and fault tolerance.
- Enhance platform performance by reducing latency and improving overall system efficiency.
- Balance pricing accuracy with cache efficiency and infrastructure expenditure.
- Improve monitoring, tracing, and observability in production environments to facilitate quick issue resolution and system insights.
- Own solutions end-to-end, from initial investigation and design through to deployment and ongoing maintenance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and alignment with business goals.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives to uphold high-quality standards.
