Backend Engineer
An innovative organisation in the defence and national security space is looking for a Backend Engineer. The successful candidate will help build the core services behind a next-generation intelligence platform, developing secure and scalable microservices that support mission-critical operational workflows.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design, develop, and maintain Java-based microservices using Spring Boot.
- Build secure RESTful APIs supporting workflow, metadata, and document management.
- Design and develop scalable persistence layers using SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Contribute to cloud-native deployments, containerisation, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Implement secure coding practices, logging, monitoring, and audit capabilities.

What We're Looking For
- Proven software development experience within defence, national security, or similarly secure environments.
- Strong commercial Java development experience with expertise in Spring Boot.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other container technologies.
- Active DV Security Clearance is mandatory for this position.
- Legally authorized to work in the United Kingdom and able to work on-site four days per week.
