About The Role

For one of our leading clients, we are seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer specializing in Ruby and AI Platform to join their AI Events team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of AI-driven infrastructure development, focusing on building event-driven systems that facilitate automated AI workflows throughout the software development lifecycle. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and design, to develop scalable, reliable, and high-performance systems that enable seamless integration of AI features into existing platforms. This position is ideal for a technically proficient professional passionate about innovative AI solutions, with a strong background in building large-scale, high-availability systems using Ruby on Rails and related technologies.

Qualifications

  • Deep understanding and extensive experience in Ruby and Ruby on Rails, particularly within large production monoliths.
  • Proven expertise in designing and maintaining high-throughput, high-availability systems.
  • Track record of developing user-facing products that incorporate Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI agents, demonstrating the ability to create autonomous workflows that enable AI agents to perform actions independently.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration within remote, globally distributed teams.
  • Additional experience with Python, developer tooling, or GitLab as a product will be considered advantageous.
  • Proactive mindset, adaptability to evolving AI technologies, and the ability to solve complex technical challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop trigger systems that connect GitLab events, such as code pushes, merge requests, issue changes, CI/CD results, and deployments, to AI-powered workflows.
  • Create and maintain integrations for third-party tools like Jira, Jenkins, and Slack to facilitate seamless event handling and automation.
  • Contribute to the core event platform that enables AI features to determine optimal timing and execution of workflows.
  • Architect scalable systems ensuring high availability, reliability, and throughput to handle large volumes of events efficiently.
  • Maintain and enhance production functionality within a substantial Ruby on Rails monolithic architecture.
  • Propose and implement iterative solutions to complex technical challenges, influencing product and architectural decisions across multiple services.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, design, and AI platform teams to expand trigger capabilities and support the broader agent ecosystem.
  • Participate in Tier 2 and Tier 3 on-call rotations, troubleshooting production issues, security concerns, and urgent engineering problems to ensure system stability and security.
