About The Role
For one of our leading clients, we are seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer specializing in Ruby and AI Platforms to join their AI Events team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of AI-driven automation within the software development lifecycle. As a key member of the team, you will collaborate closely with engineering, product, and design teams to develop and enhance event-driven infrastructure and trigger systems that enable automated AI workflows. Your expertise will contribute to building scalable, reliable, and innovative solutions that support high-impact AI features across the organization.

Qualifications
- Strong technical background with extensive experience in Ruby and Ruby on Rails, particularly within large production monoliths.
- Proven expertise in designing and operating large-scale, high-availability systems.
- Track record of building user-facing products that integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) and develop agentic workflows allowing AI agents to perform autonomous actions.
- Strong communication skills, especially in remote, globally distributed teams.
- Additional experience with Python, developer tooling, or GitLab as a product will be considered advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop trigger systems that connect GitLab events, such as code pushes, merge requests, issue updates, CI/CD results, and deployments, to AI-powered workflows.
- Create integrations for third-party tools like Jira, Jenkins, and Slack to facilitate seamless event handling and automation.
- Contribute to the core event platform that enables AI features to determine optimal timing and execution of workflows.
- Architect systems ensuring high availability, reliability, and throughput to handle large volumes of events efficiently at scale.
- Maintain and enhance production functionalities within a large, established Ruby on Rails monolith environment.
- Propose and implement iterative solutions to complex technical challenges, influencing product and architecture strategies across multiple services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product, design, and AI platform teams to expand trigger capabilities and support the broader agent ecosystem.
- Participate in Tier 2 and Tier 3 on-call rotations, troubleshooting production issues, security concerns, and urgent engineering problems promptly and effectively.
