About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Engineer specializing in Ruby and AI Platform to join our client's dynamic AI Events team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and developing event-driven infrastructure and trigger systems that facilitate automated AI workflows across the software development lifecycle. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including engineering, product, and design to create scalable, reliable, and innovative solutions that enhance the company's AI capabilities. Your expertise will contribute to building a robust core event platform that supports AI features and enables the organization to respond effectively to various development events and third-party integrations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of AI-driven automation, shaping the future of intelligent workflows in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical background with extensive experience in Ruby and Ruby on Rails, particularly within large-scale production environments.
  • Proven expertise in developing user-facing products that incorporate Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI agents.
  • Solid understanding of designing and operating high-availability, high-throughput systems, with hands-on experience in building autonomous agentic workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to adapt to emerging AI capabilities, and excellent communication skills for remote collaboration.
  • Additional familiarity with Python, developer tooling, or GitLab as a product will be considered advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop trigger systems that connect GitLab events, including code pushes, merge requests, issue updates, CI/CD results, and deployments, to AI-powered workflows.
  • Create integrations for third-party tools such as Jira, Jenkins, and Slack to facilitate seamless event handling and automation.
  • Contribute to the core event platform that enables AI features to determine optimal timing and execution of workflows.
  • Architect scalable systems ensuring high availability, reliability, and throughput to process events effectively at scale.
  • Maintain and enhance production functionality within a large Ruby on Rails monolith, ensuring stability and performance.
  • Propose and implement iterative solutions to complex technical challenges, influencing product and architectural decisions across multiple services.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, design, and AI platform teams to expand trigger capabilities and support the broader agent ecosystem.
  • Participate in Tier 2 and Tier 3 on-call rotations, troubleshooting and resolving production, security, and urgent engineering issues promptly.
