Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails, particularly within large, production-grade monoliths. Proven expertise in building user-facing products that incorporate Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI integrations is essential. Candidates should have a strong background in designing and operating large-scale, high-throughput, high-availability systems. Experience developing autonomous agentic systems and workflows that enable AI agents to act independently is highly desirable.

Excellent communication skills, especially in asynchronous remote collaboration, are necessary. Additional experience with Python, developer tooling, or GitLab as a product will be considered advantageous. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to adapt to evolving problem spaces, learn emerging AI capabilities rapidly, and contribute effectively within a globally distributed team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement trigger systems that connect GitLab events such as code pushes, merge requests, issue changes, CI/CD results, and deployments to AI-powered workflows.
  • Develop and maintain integrations with third-party tools such as Jira, Jenkins, and Slack to facilitate comprehensive event handling.
  • Contribute to the development of the core event platform that enables AI features to determine workflow execution timing and conditions.
  • Architect and optimize systems for high availability, reliability, and throughput, ensuring effective processing of events at scale.
  • Build, enhance, and maintain production functionality within a large Ruby on Rails monolithic architecture.
  • Propose and implement iterative solutions to complex technical challenges, influencing product and system architecture directions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, design, and AI platform teams to expand trigger capabilities and support the broader agent ecosystem.
  • Participate in Tier 2 and Tier 3 on-call rotations, troubleshooting and resolving production, security, and urgent engineering issues promptly.
