Backend Engineer - Rapid-growth FinTech / SaaS - London / Hybrid - up to £70k (DoE)

We have an incredible opportunity for skilled, passionate and experienced Backend Engineers, with production experience with languages such as Node.js, Express, Python; familiarity with AWS (e.g. ECS/EKS, Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, RDS/DynamoDB, S3) and experience designing RESTful and event-driven APIs, to join a fantastic FinTech / SaaS on a hybrid working basis as soon as possible.

Our client is offering an annual salary up to £70k, dependent on experience and skillset.

What we’re looking for:

  • Graduate with a relevant degree in Computer Science / Engineering or similar, with c2+ years’ relevant work experience, ideally within FinTech, TMS or SaaS
  • Proven production experience building and operating backend services (e.g. Node.js/Express, Python), with a technology-agnostic mindset and the ability to adapt to evolving stacks
  • Familiarity with AWS (i.e. ECS/EKS, Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, RDS/DynamoDB, S3)
  • Experience designing RESTful and event-driven APIs
  • Relational data modelling skills (financial or transactional systems advantageous)
  • Experience with concurrency, locking, idempotency and distributed consistency
  • Experience with message queues, background workers and workflow orchestration
  • Experience integrating AI/ML or decisioning services into backend platforms
  • Comfortable building systems that consume AI outputs and execute deterministic actions
  • Ability to design safety, audit and rollback mechanisms around automated execution
  • Understanding of the role context plays in designing a modern AI-native system
  • Hands-on experience deploying and operating Node.js services on AWS
  • Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code and containerised workloads
  • Drive to improve as an Engineer - eager to work with peers who push and support each other to continuously improve
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise at all levels
  • Collaborative nature - ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, rapid-growth environment
  • Highly ambitious, driven and focused
