Role Overview

Rethink how modern insurance platforms perform by engineering intelligent, distributed backend systems that replace legacy constraints with high-precision, real-time data.

RMG is partnering with an innovative insurtech specialist that uses telematics and proprietary machine learning models to revolutionise underwriting accuracy. We are seeking a full-time, permanent Backend Engineer based anywhere in the UK to help build and refine the next evolution of their core technology platform. Working within a fully remote environment, you will take ownership of modern, cloud-native services that power core insurance processing, dynamic mobile apps, and high-volume data pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain resilient, scalable backend services and APIs using Node.js and TypeScript.
  • Architect and implement production-grade integrations, distributed messaging flows, and data services powering core underwriting systems and user-facing mobile applications.
  • Champion clean system architecture, collaborating directly with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to translate complex business needs into elegant technical solutions.
  • Maintain complete end-to-end ownership of your services, ensuring high reliability, system observability, performance, and operational excellence.
  • Participate actively in agile ceremonies and collaborative system design sessions to influence long-term technical direction.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
