Description

We are looking for an experienced and strong-minded backend engineer to join our team. You will have a good working knowledge of Node.js, TypeScript, micro-service architectures, serverless, relational databases, and designing fault-tolerant systems. It is important that you have a strong focus on quality: well-written code, pride in testing, and a holistic, end-to-end approach to development.

Essential qualities and skills:

  • NodeJS
  • TypeScript
  • Integration Testing
  • Relational Database Design (MySQL / Postgres)
  • Redis & Caching
  • AWS Cloud
  • Github
  • An understanding of AI: the positives and negatives
  • Fundamentals – data structures, functional code, system architecture
  • Excellent communication skills in both speech and writing
  • Self-motivated and proactive: takes the initiative
  • Quality focused
  • A sharp mind: you ask why, you think about root causes, trade-offs, and use data to inform your decisions.
  • Experience in similar dynamic, fast-paced environments in growing companies, or at least a reason for wanting to be in one.
  • An ability to illustrate: your technical diagrams and documentation should be easy to implement and understand.

Nice to haves:

  • Solid experience with monitoring tools such as Datadog
  • Real-world experience of improving the speed and scale of a given high-throughput system (1000s requests per second)
  • A passion for sports
  • Experience in the gambling industry

What will the role involve?

  • Engineering technical solutions and sharing them with the team through design sessions & code reviews.
  • Shaping a scalable and performant architecture of our sportsbook platform.
  • Discussing feasibility, ROI, and trade-offs with product as we aim to deliver “MVP” through to fully-fledged features.
  • Own your code. Build it. Test it. Ship it. Monitor it.
  • Extensive on-boarding, mentoring, and personal development opportunities.
